Reid Hoffman

Reid Hoffman was a founder and CEO of LinkedIn before becoming Chairman and President in early 2007. Prior to LinkedIn, he was a founder and executive at PayPal where he played an instrumental role in the company’s acquisition by Ebay. Reid has been an angel investor in 34 early stage companies including Facebook and Flickr. He is also an avid philanthropist, serving on the boards of and Center for Citizen Media. Reid graduated with distinction from Stanford University with a B.S. in Symbolic Systems and from Oxford University with a Master’s degree in philosophy. He and his wife live in northern California.


Giving people the benefit of the doubt

I don’t hold grudges but once I determine that someone has a flawed character, is selfish or creating havoc, I usually think why should I bother reevaluating. If they change, that’s great, but why should I spend time being part of that person’s process. Once I’ve decided their character is wrong, I don’t have anything to do with them again.
